BH Counselor - Early Childhood Mental Health

We are currently looking for qualified individuals to fill a Behavioral Health - Early Childhood/Youth Counselor position.  This position is responsible for consulting with families and educators of children with social-emotional-behavioral challenges. They will also consult with educators on ways to strengthen their classrooms to promote the social-emotional development of all of the children in their care in conjunction with an individual child/family case. 

 

We are offering a sign on bonus to the full time hire for this position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):

  • Provide child/family-centered consultation when educators or parents have concerns regarding the social-emotional development of a particular child.

  • Observe and assess young children with social-emotional-behavioral challenges.

  • Work with parents and educators to develop an action plan that identifies appropriate interventions for a child who needs individual support, and oversee implementation of the plan.

  • Make referrals of children and their families to appropriate services.

  • Provide learning opportunities for educators and families to help them develop new skills that will enable them to understand and more effectively support the social-emotional development of children, including those identified with behavioral issues (may include observation, modeling, etc.).

Education/Experience/Licensure/Certification:

Required:

  • LSW or LPC

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field

  • Two years professional experience with the early childhood population

  • Knowledge of early childhood development (birth through five years)

  • Experience with early childhood screening/assessment
